Most UTI infections are caused by bacteria like E. coli. The bacteria accumulates within your urinary tract and within the bladder. The E. coli bacteria can be eliminated if your immune system is healthy. However, the bacteria will definitely spread if your immune system is too low and it can lead to UTI. A UTI can also be caused by a sexually transmitted disease like the herpes simplex virus, Chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

If you are aware about these facts, then you can find the perfect cure for your urinary tract infection. There is a diet that you can use in order to stop UTI from occurring. Urinary Tract Infection or UTI is something you can contract when any part of the urinary tract gets infected. It is a sickness. The bladder, kidneys, ureters and urethra are all susceptible to UTI and such infections are fairly common. Anyone can have this urinary tract infection if they are not careful. Though this is a disease that has treatment these days, when this is left untreated, this can lead to more serious illnesses. Now, when it comes to this illness we call UTI, its shorter name or urinary tract infection, it is important that we know what causes it so we know how we can treat it.

What can cause UTI? There are different things that can cause this illness. Common causes for UTI are germs, harmful bacteria that gain entry to the urethra and eventually the bladder. This is what can lead other parts of the urinary tract infected. The bacteria can even get into the kidneys and cause a widespread infection of the urinary tract.

Most women are susceptible to urinary tract infection. Not a lot of men develop this sickness however. Now, you might be asking: why are women more prone to getting UTI and not a lot of the men? Women get them most of the time because of their short urethra. Theirs are shorter than men and are situated closely to the anus thereby making it easy for bacteria to enter into their urethra at any time.

For women, they can be susceptible to UTI when they use diaphragms for birth control or after they’ve had sexual intercourse with their partners. Another leading cause of UTI is menopause. Now, if you are a woman, it might be best to take great care of your body so as you do not develop any kind of UTIs.

Aside from these causes, there are certain conditions of the body that may lead to the development of UTIs. One of these is diabetes. Kidney stones and pregnancy can also move into the more serious UTI along with surgery procedures and more that involve the urinary tract. We’ve already established now that the urinary tract is a very delicate system therefore we must take great care of it or we would have UTIs we might find difficult to treat and go through.

How do you know if you have contracted the urinary tract infection? There are lots of symptoms of UTI. The most common are the signs and symptoms of having an infection of the bladder. Some of these signs and symptoms include the pain, like the sensation of intense burning, that comes with urination; low-grade fever, though not all with UTI will get this; urine with blood or one that is cloudy—this may also come with a strong or foul smell; and the need to frequently urinate which doesn’t matter even when we’ve already emptied the bladder. Aside from the symptoms that show when you have infection of the bladder, there are some, too, that tell you whether the infection has made it into your kidneys or not.

Treatment for UTI varies. It all depends on the severity of the case. For mild cases of UTI in women, they are often given 3 days’ worth of antibiotics. For men, it’s usually a week to a couple of weeks of antibiotics. Hospitalization is only for those who have severe problems or infection of the kidneys. Those with intermittent show of symptoms and signs of UTI are required to take stronger antibiotics than those that are regularly prescribed to patients with this condition. Surgery may be needed by those with problems in the structure of the urinary tract that cause UTI.

When symptoms of urinary tract infection show upon you, then it is time to see your doctor. Don’t think twice or it’ll get worse, just make an appointment and meet with your doctor to prevent it from worsening.

There are many infections, which affect adults all over the world, and Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the most common. This affects millions of people the world over. They are the second most reported kinds of infection in adults and account for a very large number of hospital visits. For reasons that are yet to be stated, women are more prone to UTI’s. Research has revealed that at least one in every five women will develop a UTI in her lifetime. UTI’s are not very common in men but when they do occur, they can be very serious.

To understand Urinary Tract Infection, we need to understand what exactly causes them. UTI’s occur when bacteria originating from the gut get to the opening of a person’s urethra and multiply. In a healthy person, the urine is usually sterile thus free of bacteria, fungi and viruses. However, the urine contains salts, various fluids and waste products generated in the body. As long as the urine is free of micro-organisms, you are safe from infections. The bacteria which cling to the urethra are the cause of UTI’s. Most of the UTI’s reported are as a result of infection by E coli which are found in the human colon.

In most cases, bacteria will first go to the urethra and once they multiply, an infection immediately follows. If the infection is limited to the urethra, it is referred to as urethritis. However, the bacteria can move to the bladder and cause an infection there. Then this will be referred to as cystitis. The patient should seek medical help immediately they suspect an UTI. This is because it will prevent a lot of complications which may arise with time. The worst which can happen is having a pyelonephritis. This occurs when bacteria travel all the way up to the kidney and infect it.

Both adult men and women can get a Urinary Tract Infection from Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. Infections resulting from these two tend to remain in the urethra and reproductive system and do not spread further. However, these can be sexually transmitted and if a person has them, she will need to seek treatment for her and the partner. This is unlike E coli. It is not sexually transmitted and hence cannot be transmitted from a person to his partner.

The way the urinary system is structured is in such a way that infections are hard to come by. Urine is prevented from going back to the kidney by the ureters and the bladder. As urine flows out of the bladder, it washes away bacteria. This maintains a very sterile system with no Urinary Tract Infections whatsoever. The prostate gland in men produces some secretions which are very effective in getting rid of any infections. In both sexes, a strong immunity system also wards off infections. People who have a deficiency in their immunity are likely to get a Urinary Tract Infection more often.

However, some people will still get the infection even when they are very healthy. This is because there are other factors which can lead to an infection. For example, if someone has any obstruction affecting the flow of urine, she is likely to get an infection. In men, an enlarged prostate gland causes a very slow flow of urine and this raises the risk of an infection. Catheters are also a major source of infection. If the catheter is not properly sterilized, bacteria on it are easily transferred to the urinary system so medical staff should be very careful when using catheters on patients. Diabetics may also risk getting an Urinary Tract Infection often because their immunity changes a lot.
